Privacy policy
Effective 13 October 2026
Kids TV Guard is made by Bornbytes ("we"). It lets a parent control their family's Android TV from Telegram. This policy explains what the app and its relay service collect, why, where it is kept, who else is involved, and how to delete it.
Who the app is for
The app is set up and controlled by a parent or guardian. Children do not create accounts and are never asked for information. The app records which apps are used on the TV so the parent can see screen time and set limits.
What we collect, and where it is kept
| Data | Why | Where, and for how long |
|---|---|---|
| Which app is in front on the TV | To block apps, warn before bedtime and measure screen time | On the TV only, while the app runs |
| Screen time per app per day | For the /today and /week reports | On the TV only, for 14 days |
| Lock, block and bedtime settings, and the name shown on messages | So the TV keeps your rules after a restart | On the TV only, until you change them or uninstall |
| Voice messages you send | To play them on the TV | On the TV, replaced by the next voice message |
| A random ID and key for the TV, its name, and its Firebase delivery token | To deliver your commands to the right TV | On our relay, until the TV is removed |
| The Telegram chat IDs paired with the TV | So only paired chats can control it | On our relay, until you send /unpair |
| Pairing codes, and wrong codes sent to the bot | To pair safely and to stop people guessing codes | On our relay: codes for 10 minutes, wrong attempts for up to a day |
What we do not collect
- We do not record what is shown on the screen, what is played inside an app, or anything typed on the TV.
- Your commands and messages pass through our relay to the TV and are not stored.
- There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking, in the app or on this website.
- We do not sell or rent any data.
The accessibility service
Android only lets an app know which app is in front, and draw its own screens over it, through an accessibility service. Kids TV Guard uses its accessibility service for those two things only: to read the name of the app in front, and to show the warning, lock, blocked and message screens. You can switch it off at any time in the TV's accessibility settings.
Who else is involved
- Telegram carries the messages between you and the bot. What you send in Telegram is handled under Telegram's own privacy policy.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers commands from our relay to the TV.
- Cloudflare runs our relay and its database, and hosts this website. Cloudflare may keep short-lived operational logs.
Information the TV sends you, such as the app on screen or today's screen time, goes only to the Telegram chats paired with that TV.
Deleting your data
- Send /unpair to the bot to remove your chat from the TV.
- Uninstall the app, or clear its data, to delete everything kept on the TV.
- To have a TV's record removed from our relay, email us from the address below with the TV's name. We do it within 30 days.
Security
Each TV signs its requests to our relay with its own key, and the relay stores only a hash of that key. Commands reach a TV only from chats paired with it, and pairing codes expire after 10 minutes.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update it here and change the date at the top. If a change affects what we collect, we will say so in the app before it takes effect.
